HS Football Week 7 Recaps: Cedarville stops losing skid, Greeneview, Bellbrook keep rolling

CEDARVILLE — Cedarville let off some steam to halt its four-game losing streak with a 44-22 win Friday against Catholic Central.

The Indians had its best offensive output of the season, getting season highs in scoring and offensive yards with 416. Colt Coffey had his first 100-yard performance in four games, gaining 138 on 23 carries and scoring two touchdowns.

Will Mossing also had a season-best 226 yards and three touchdowns passing. Micah Burr, Lincoln Pyles and Derek Orr all caught touchdown passes.

Cedarville’s defense also greatly helped its cause, forcing three turnovers and hold the Irish to eight first-half points. The Indians took full advantage scoring 24 in the first to off to a big lead it wouldn’t relinquish.

The win gives Cedarville a leg up in the race for the postseason with one its closest rivals in the computer points standings. Cedarville is expected to be in position to receive a playoff berth sitting 15th place in the standings when they are released on Tuesday with three weeks remaining.

Bellbrook 31, Franklin 0

Bellbrook’s defense continued to shine in the win. The Golden Eagles picked up its third shutout in the last four games and has not allowed an offensive touchdown to be scored against them in its last five contests.

Franklin was held to only 28 snaps on offense, 74 total yards and three first downs as Bellbrook also forced two turnovers.

A rare fast start for Bellbrook’s offense saw them jump out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter as the team scored all of its points by halftime.

Bellbrook is now 6-1 this season.

Greeneview 33, Southeastern 0

The Rams remained undefeated with its second straight shutout against the OHC South. Greeneview has allowed one touchdown in its last seven halves of football, which came against its second string.

Southeastern never had a play longer than 16 yards from scrimmage and were held under 200 yards as a team.

Greeneview didn’t score in the first quarter and lost a fumble, but got rolling around halftime in scoring all 33 of its points during the second and third quarters.

Springboro 38, Beavercreek 0

Beavercreek’s offense had its worst output of the year, failing to complete a pass or reach at least 100 yards of offense. Springboro controlled the contest, having more than 35 minutes of possession, gaining 17 first downs and converting 8 of 10 opportunities on third downs.

Jack Minnick had 16 carries for 43 yards for Beavercreek. Jamison Webster grabbed an interception and joined Eli Walker in making nine tackles on the defensive side.

Badin 56, Carroll 7

Badin took advantage of three Carroll turnovers to pull away early and cruise to a win.

Jayden Crawford had a 77-yard touchdown run to get the only score of the game for the Patriots.

It was the third straight loss for Carroll after starting the season with four consecutive wins.

Butler 14, Fairborn 7

The defense turned in one of its best performances of the season to nearly get Fairborn to pull off the upset at home.

Butler was held to 1-for-8 on third downs and under 250 yards of offense as Fairborn’s defense got two sacks, eight tackles for loss and caught an interception. A 37-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter for Butler proved to be the difference.

Fairborn got a three-yard touchdown run by Zyaire Cavitt after halftime. The Skyhawks failed to complete a pass and only had 50 yards of offense in the game.
