XENIA — A Xenia man arrested in connection with an officer-involved shooting was indicted by a Greene County Grand Jury.

Kyle Berry, 23, will face charges of felonious assault (on a peace officer), a first-degree felony, and felonious assault, a second-degree felony, according to a release from Xenia police.

According to Xenia police, Berry pointed a handgun at officers when they responded to a report of gunshots in the 190 block of South Orange Street and was shot by officers. Officers then provided medical care until paramedics from the Xenia Fire Division arrived. Paramedics transported Berry to the hospital. Berry was taken into custody July 2 after being released from Miami Valley Hospital.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations was asked to lead the investigation.

As a routine procedure common to officer-involved shootings, two Xenia Police Division officers have been placed on administrative leave. One of the officers has 16 years of law enforcement experience and the second officer has 10 years of law enforcement experience.

The officers will remain on administrative leave until further notice.
