Tournament results: Xenia volleyball falls; girls soccer teams all advance

XENIA — Xenia volleyball had its season end in the opening match of Division III district tournament play on Thursday.

The 12th-seeded Buccaneers, playing on its home court, lost to ninth-seeded Chaminade Julienne 25-15, 25-16, 25-23.

Xenia let an early lead slip away in the opening set and fell behind by double digits up to 18-7 before playing closer to even as the set closed. CJ cruised in set two before the final set remained closed to the end.

Xenia led multiple times while the match became tied at points 9, 14, 17, 20 and 23. CJ used good serve placement to get a pair of aces to close out the win.

Avery Tate had seven kills to lead Xenia’s attack, and Morgan Bennett had four. Audrey Austin added eight digs and Isabella Gregg produced seven digs.

Xenia finishes its season with a 6-17 record.

Legacy Christian rolls again

The top-seed in D-V nearly matched its regular season win margin against Miami Valley in only one half of action.

The Knights won 11-0 Thursday at Athletes in Action to storm past the 18th seed for its second district tournament win. LCA met the mercy goal limit of being ahead by eight with more than 10 minutes left in the first half. The regular season matchup between the two sides ended with LCA winning 12-0.

Aubriana Woods had a hat trick, all in the final 14 minutes, to nearly double her season scoring total.

Allie Graves scored in the opening minute and had two goals and three assists in total. Autumn Allport, the team’s primary goalkeeper, netted her first goal of the season in the win as well.

Legacy Christian advances to the district semifinal round on Monday hosting No. 8 Twin Valley South.

Carroll, Greeneview keep up form

Both Carroll and Greeneview had 8-0 wins ending at halftime on Thursday.

The Patriots, seeded second in D-III, knocked out No. 12 Belmont in its first match of the district tournament. Carroll advances to play No. 4 Sidney on Monday in the district semifinals.

Greeneview, also a two-seed in D-V, rolled past No. 17 Northeastern after getting hat tricks from both Daylee Sandlin and Mya Simpson. The Rams will have a home game in the district semifinals on Monday against No. 3 Anna.
