XENIA — Two suspects in the attempted robbery at McDonald’s on Main Street Aug. 31 have been charged.

According to a release from Xenia police, Shawn Smith, 28, was charged with aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence and Rebecca Shepherd, 22, was charged with complicity to aggravated robbery.

Xenia Police Division responded to the robbery attempt just before midnight on Aug. 31. Smith, who was armed with a gun, attempted to force employees to open the safe but was unsuccessful and fled the scene, according to police. Shepherd aided Smith by driving him to and from the area of the crime, police said.
