XENIA — Residents of Greene County gathered Wednesday night for the annual JamFest event put on by the Greene County Council on Aging.

The main event — jams and jellies — was set up across the Xenia Community Center where the event took place. Alongside were recipes, decorations, and homemade games for all ages.

Free snacks were also available for everyone in attendance, with many unique creations to enjoy like jelly-marinated meatballs and blueberry cheesecake cookies.

The event ran from 4-6 p.m., with special events beginning at 5:15. The first of these was the Cloud Race, where participants used a mini blower to push a cotton ball along a short race course. Several city mayors were not only in attendance, but participated ecstatically in the race. Fairborn Mayor Paul Keller was last year’s reigning champion but was pushed out in this year’s semifinals.

Following the race, homemade goods were sold in a live auction hosted by Real Roots Radio Host Roy Hatfield.

Throughout the evening, a silent auction of similarly homemade gift baskets was put together for visitors to bid on. Prices went upwards of $50 for most items.

All proceeds went towards further supporting the GCCOA, which regularly holds fundraisers like these to provide community support and senior care.
