FAIRBORN — The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force has opened registration for its Wings, Rails & Wheels Model Expo, set for Aug. 12.
The event — which features a diverse array of unique, scaled model aircraft, locomotives and motor vehicles of all kinds featured against the backdrop of the museum’s aircraft displays — will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at the museum, 1100 Spaatz Street.
Advanced registration is not required for attendees and it is free for everyone to attend.
No vendors are allowed to set up at the event, and no sales can be made from modelers. The museum also specifies it will not allow models outside the Wings, Rails & Wheels category, such as watercraft, human or animal figures, or science fiction models.
The goal of this event, according to the museum, is to inspire guests of all ages to learn about these models and pick up a hobby like this one, rooted in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
