Springboro sweeps Fairborn
FAIRBORN — Between the raindrops and the thunderclaps on Tuesday night, the Fairborn Skyhawks (0-14) hosted undefeated Springboro (9-0) in a Greater Western Ohio Conference South Division match at the Community Park Courts. Springboro showed the Fairborn Skyhawks why they are the class of the South this season in a thorough 5-0 thrashing of the hosts.
Nhat Mai faced off tonight against one of the top players in the entire GWOC in Springboro’s Jack Diehl and it showed as Nhat fell 6-0, 6-1 at the first singles spot.
At the no. 2 spot, Alex Cao played well in and similar 6-1, 6-0 match against Sorga Singla.
Caleb Arthur returned to action after injuring his left wrist Saturday, and he too played one of his best matches of the season in falling 6-0, 6-0 to Jack Ritter.
Springboro’s doubles teams are also among the conference’s best, and that showed tonight in the scores. Tyler Fillback and Robert Floyd were dropped 6-0, 6-0 by Jared Puckett and Ishan Rolo.
Austin Lewis and Johnny Ngo also fell 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles to Rhan Krishnan and Andrew Rhoden.

Triad rallies past Cedarville
NORTH LEWISBURG — Despite a solid six-strikeout outing by Cedarville pitcher Jacob Gannon, host Triad was able to score twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a 2-1 win, Monday in Ohio Heritage Conference action. Gannon and Keith Gnau had the only hits for Cedarville (0-5, 0-1 OHC). Triad sits atop the OHC standings with a 13-2 overall record, 2-0 in the conference.
Cedarville hosts Springfield Catholic Central at 5 p.m. Friday, then they’ll host neighboring Yellow Springs at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Softball
Raiders defeat Morehead State
FAIRBORN — Wright State picked up a 4-2 win over Morehead State, Tuesday at the WSU Softball Field in its final regular-season nonleague contest of the season.
Ashley Sharp (17-5) scattered seven hits and allowed just one earned run in a complete-game effort, striking out two.
Honnah Susor finished with three hits and two runs scored to pace the Raider offense while Ashton Salyers had two hits.
Wright State (32-18) heads to the University of Illinois at Chicago this weekend in a matchup between the top two teams in the Horizon League. The three-game series begins with a single game at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 29.
Yellow Jackets close out regular season
URBANA — The Lady Jackets wrapped up their regular season with a pair of non-conference setbacks at Urbana.
The Blue Knights won the first game, 3-1, and then took the nightcap, 3-2, in eight innings.
In the opener, Urbana scored all of its runs in the third inning. CU finally dented the plate in the seventh on a two-out RBI double by Avary Humes.
Elyssa Reyes had two hits while Brianne O’Dell added a double. Morgan Arbogast went the distance in the circle and struck out seven.
A sacrifice fly in the eighth inning won the second contest for the Blue Knights. O’Dell had a pair of RBI doubles for the Lady Jackets (25-29).
Next Up: The no. 4-seed Lady Jackets face third seeded Davis & Elkins in the first round of the G-MAC Tournament at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the AIA Complex in Xenia.

Baker named G-MAC Pitcher of the Week … again
CEDARVILLE — Cedarville righthander Garrett Baker has been chosen the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive time.
Baker, a senior from East Longmeadow, Mass., assembled his second straight dominating start with a 7-0 victory against visiting Ohio Valley.
In eight innings of work, he allowed five hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.
Baker (3-2) has struck out 23 batters with four walks in his last two starts covering 16 innings.
The Yellow Jackets (13-22 overall and 6-8 G-MAC) have won seven of their last 10 games.
Cedarville travels on Thursday and Friday to Owensboro, Ky. to play G-MAC doubleheaders at Kentucky Wesleyan.

Ruffner Memorial 5K set for May 13
XENIA — The second annual Joseph T. Ruffner Memorial 5K Run will take place starting at 6 p.m., Friday May 13 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1120 S. Detroit St.
A free Kids Fun Run will get under way at 5:45 p.m. for kids ages 8 and under, with the adult race starting with a balloon launch at 6 p.m. The course is stroller and leashed pet friendly, with a water station at the halfway point and at the finish line.
