Rams wallop Southeastern
JAMESTOWN — Dart Hovan and Jacob Mickle both scored three goals and added an assist in Tuesday’s 14-1 win over South Charleston Southeastern, on Greeneview’s Don Nock Field. Other scorers for the Rams were Ben Atkins (two goals), Jaden Baise (two goals, three assists), Brayden Woods (three assists), Bryce Wilson (two assists), Josh Jenkins (one assist) and Austin Cyphers, Jerisym Gilliam, Kelle Hart and Nick Smith with one goal apiece. Dylan Lehotay had one save in goal.
Greeneview (7-0, 4-0 Ohio Heritage Conference) returns to action today, along with the girls soccer team, for back-to-back games at Springfield Northeastern. The girls game starts at 5:30 p.m., with the boys game set to follow at approximately 7 p.m.

Keefe named Buccaneers honorary coach
XENIA — The Xenia High School football program will honor Kevin Keefe as Honorary Coach for Friday’s high school football game at Doug Adams Stadium against Vandalia Butler. Keefe is from Richmond, Ky. He is the son of Tom and Pat Keefe. He was the last of four boys and has an identical twin. Keefe is married to Sarah and they have a 9-year-old daughter, Erin, and a 5-year-old son, Owen.
Keefe is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and has his Masters in Science Teaching from Wright State University. In his 17th year of teaching, he has taught general biology, AP Biology, Integrated Science, Environmental Science, Ecology and Biomes, Pollution and Global Warming. He is the founder and faculty advisor of the Xenia Gamer Club since 2003. He worked with the drum line for nine years and wrote music for them for 12 years.
Professionally, Keefe has served on the District Instructional Council, NHS Executive Committee, Secondary Science Curriculum Team, and BLT Committee.
The senior football players chose Keefe as honorary coach because of his outstanding commitment to the students of Xenia High, his commitment to teaching science, and his personal commitment to excellence.

Lamb, Bice honored for service
XENIA — At halftime of Monday’s Xenia High School girls soccer game against Vandalia Butler, longtime pressbox fixtures Charlie Lamb and Ed Bice were recognized for their service to the Xenia High School and community soccer programs.
Lamb has operated the scoreboard and clock at Doug Adams Stadium for 27 years. Bice has served as the public address announcer for Xenia soccer games at the stadium for 25 years. The two have been involved with soccer in the Xenia community for more than 30 years each.
On Monday in recognition of their service, Xenia head girls varsity soccer coach Jim Lamb presented the two men with Lifetime Greater Western Ohio Conference athletic passes during a brief halftime ceremony.

Schmidt Memorial set for Saturday
RIVERSIDE — The Carroll High School girls tennis team will be hosting a tournament in memory of graduate Jennifer Schmidt.
A 1984 Carroll graduate, Schmidt disappeared and was feared abducted in August of 1985 while a student at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. Sadly, she was never found. Her memory lives on through this event which features many of the Dayton area’s best high school girls tennis players.
Area high school tennis teams featured in the tournament include Carroll, Tipp City Tippecanoe, Brookville, Beavercreek, Springfield Kenton Ridge, Springfield Catholic Central, Germantown Valley View, and Sidney Lehman Catholic.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. a Thomas Cloud Park, in Huber Heights. Raindate will be Sunday at the same location and time.

XENIA — The Xenia Tornadoes Semi Professional football team will be holding a tryout for the 2016 season from noon – 5 p.m. at Spring Hill Park, on Lake Street, in Xenia. Registration begins at noon. Tryouts get under way at 1 p.m. Please bring a valid ID to verify age, bring cleats if you have them, shorts and water. Registration ends at 3 p.m.
