XENIA — Greene County’s 2015 fair royalty were crowned Sunday afternoon. Melissa Kelleher was named queen, Wade Hutchison was named prince and Molly Rubio was named princess for the 2015 Greene County Fair. Stephanie Wuebben was named queen runner-up. No king was named as there were no king candidates.

Queen Melissa Kelleher, 18, of Xenia, is the daughter of Pat Kelleher and is a member of the Clover Valley 4-H Club. Kelleher is in her sixth year as a junior fair exhibitor.

“I’m really excited,” Kelleher said after she was named queen. “I think there will be a lot of fun activities and challenges, but I’m ready for it.”

Princess Molly Rubio, 13, of Jamestown, is the daughter of Beth Payton and is a member of the Eager Beavers 4-H Club. Rubio is in her sixth year as a junior fair exhibitor.

Prince Wade Hutchison, 13, of Xenia, is the son of Sandra Hutchison and is a member of the Eager Beavers 4-H Club. Hutchison is in his sixth year as a junior fair exhibitor.

Queen runner-up Stephanie Wuebben, 18, of Xenia, is the daughter of Terril Wuebben and is a member of the Pioneers 4-H Club. Wuebben is in her 14th year as a junior fair exhibitor.

Each of the 16 applicants went through a private, scored interview before appearing on stage Sunday before a crowd to answer a serious and a humorous question.

Prince and princess candidates had to answer the questions, “How would you convince one of your friends to join 4-H?” and “If in your next life you could come back as an animal, what animal would you be?”

King and queen candidates had to answer the questions, “What future career goals do you have and how will your experience in 4-H help you in your career?” and “If you were a pie, what kind of pie would you be and why?”

Throughout the judging process, candidates were given points based on poise, personality, responsiveness to questioning, their project record, junior fair and community activities, as well as a written essay. The combination of those elements yields the royal family.
