Party in your Parks kicking off
BEAVERCREEK — Locals are invited to participate in the Party in Your Parks events this summer. Gather with your neighbors at a park near you to participate in games and activities organized by the City of Beavercreek Parks and Recreation Department.
The first event will be held from 6-8 p.m. June 26 at Grangeview Acres Park, 2816 Blythe Court. Other event include Summerfield Park on July 10, Virgallito Park on July 24 and Merrick Park on August 7.

Parks and Rec hosting July 4 Spectacular
BEAVERCREEK — The City of Beavercreek Fourth of July Committee is seeking community bands, groups and businesses to be part of the Fourth of July parade. The Parade takes place at 6 p.m. on the Saturday of the fourth at Meadowbridge Drive and will continue on Dayton-Xenia Road and will end at Beavercreek High School.
Festivities will continue after the parade at Rotary Park. There will be food, bounce houses and fireworks. Fastrax Jump Team will land in Rotary Park at 7:30 p.m. to start off the evening. A performer from the Cincinnati Circus will entertain and the Air Force Band of Flight Systems Go Rock Band will take the stage at 8 p.m.
If rained out, the fireworks will take place on Sunday, July 5 at 10 p.m.

Area players in All-Star Football Game
CENTERVILLE — Greene County-area football players will be on both sides of the line of scrimmage for the 32nd annual Miami Valley Football Coaches Association All-Star Football game, which will be held Friday, June 12 at Centerville High School.
The “Great Clips Pigskin Classic” is set to kick-off at 7 p.m. Earl White of Dayton Belmont will be head coach of the South squad, and Riverside Stebbins head coach Trace Smitherman will head the North team.
Xenia defensive back Khalil Capers and Greeneview linebacker Chance Frye will team up to play for the North.
Beavercreek assistant coach Bosie Miliner is also listed on the North team.
The South team has its share of Greene County talent as well: Greenon’s defensive lineman Aaron Leciegewski, Fairborn offensive lineman Corey Gayheart, and Cedarville wideout Brant Wickline have been named to the South squad.

Dragons clawed by Cougars
Geneva, Ill. — Kane County’s Stryker Trahan belted two home runs including a grand slam and drove in six runs to lead the Cougars to an 11-3 win over the Dayton Dragons on Monday night. The Cougars swept the three-game series, collecting 27 runs on 44 hits in the three games.
The Dragons fell to three games out of the wildcard spot with 12 games to play in the first half season. Bowling Green leads the wildcard race with Great Lakes trailing by one and one-half games.
Dragons starting pitcher Tyler Mahle (5-4) suffered the loss. He allowed four runs in four innings (all coming on Trahan’s grand slam), giving up five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
The Dragons collected eight hits. Gavin LaValley was 2 for 3 to extend his hitting streak to 12 straight games. LaValley went 13 for 24 (.542) on the six-game road trip.
The Dragons went 3-3 on the road trip, winning the first three games at Clinton and losing the last three at Kane County.
The Dragons (30-28) did not play on Tuesday. They will open a six-game homestand at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fifth Third Field in Dayton against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (18-40). Wyatt Strahan (4-4, 2.73) will start for the Dragons on Wednesday.
