XENIA — The two Republican incumbents running for re-election to the Greene County Board of Commissioners retained their seats, according to unofficial final results from the Greene County Board of Elections.

Greene County Commissioner Bob Glaser won his race with 24.65 percent of the vote (7,004 votes), while Tom Koogler won his race with 63.64 percent of the vote (17,709 votes).

Glaser won his race by about 300 votes.

“I’ve got to thank the handful of people that helped me,” he said. “These things are very complicated. It takes an awful lot of work. … And as a result of it, we were able to meet the goal with very few people helping. I do thank them and I also thank the voters for having the confidence of giving me another term. For that I am very, very thankful.”

Glaser faced a crowded field of candidates in his bid for re-election, including Xenia businessman Ronald Geyer, Bellbrook Mayor Bob Baird, Beavercreek City Councilman Brian Jarvis and former Greene County Administrator Howard Poston.

Geyer finished with 23.53 percent of the vote, Jarvis with 20.31 percent, Poston with 17.19 percent and Baird with 14.33 percent.

Koogler cruised to re-election over his lone challenger, former Sugarcreek Township Trustee Dick King, by nearly 7,600 votes.

“I’m certainly very happy with the results of the vote this evening,” he said. “I’m very honored that the voters allowed me to represent them for another four years as Greene County commissioner. I really will make every effort to find every opportunity that I can to help improve the quality of life and the opportunity for job development and to make Greene County a great place to live and work for all involved.”

No Democratic candidates ran in the primary, so the winners of this election will be unopposed in the November general election.
