BEAVERCREEK — Soin Medical Center opened a $10 million expansion Tuesday afternoon. As part of the expansion, the Beavercreek hospital added 30 private rooms and therapy space for joint and spine patients.

The expansion was completed by opening the hospital’s fifth floor, which was added but not completed when the hospital was built in 2012. While some hospital infrastructure on the floor was put in place when the building was first constructed, the shell was not built out and finalized until recent months.

“For Soin Medical Center [the expansion] continues on the advancement of growth we’re experiencing,” Soin Medical Center President Rick Dodds said of the newest expansion Tuesday. “Our ERs are very busy and also our spine and ortho programs continue to grow as the community need exists.”

Dodd said the opening would initially create 20-30 jobs and up to 70-80 jobs as the floor continues to fill.

The opening was the second of two planned expansions in the hospital’s upper floors. When Soin was first built, two floors were shelled in anticipation of adding patient rooms. The hospital built out the fourth floor in 2013, adding 32 beds to meet an increase in medical surgical services.

Hospital officials expected the fifth floor to open to patients Wednesday morning.
