FAIRBORN – Leroy Farthing and Ellen Slone-Farthing have been crowned the 2015 Sweet Corn Festival King and Queen.

Leroy is currently employed by Handyman Ace Hardware, and is a member of the American Legion Sons of the American Legion, the Fairborn Lions, the Fairborn Senior Center and acts as the state chairman for CMN for American Legion Sons of the American Legion.

Ellen is the Executive Director of the Fairborn Senior Center. She is co-founder of Christmas in Action of Fairborn Program, which works with low income homeowners for much-needed repairs. She additionally serves as the president of the Fairborn Rotary Club, treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 526, board member and ambassador of the Fairborn Chamber of Commerce, president of Ohio Association of Senior Centers and acts as a member of the Fairborn Lions Club and the Fairborn Festival Committee. She has been awarded the Jack Huelsman Civic Award in 2012, Woman of the Year of the Starborne Chapter of American Business Womens Association, and was the Grand Marshal of the 2009 Fairborn Fourth of July Parade.

The Sweet Corn Festival will take place 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16.
