XENIA — Bobbie Shackleford, who has been Xenia Municipal Court’s chief deputy clerk since 2003, has retired after more than 19 years civil service.

Chief Deputy Clerk, Bobbie Shackleford, retired after serving the Xenia Municipal Court for over 19 years.

Shackleford was hired in May 1996 as a deputy clerk by the late Judge Susan Goldie. Shackleford’s extensive experience, broad knowledge and skill base made her a great fit for the position, according to a release from the city.

She was promoted in March 2003 to chief deputy clerk and since then has overseen the clerk’s office and managed personnel. She was the “go to” person not only among the clerks – but also for law agencies and clerks from other courts.

“Bobbie is so deeply respected not only by me and the employees she supervised, but by the clerks and chief deputy clerks of other courts for her wealth of knowledge and her approachable spirit,” said R. James “Pete” Creamer, clerk of courts and Shackleford’s her immediate supervisor.

“We would attend clerk’s association conferences at the state level and more times than not, our court was in compliance with state standards which often could be traced back to operations and procedures put in place by Bobbie’s leadership. Pretty much every city department is going to miss Bobbie, because she was primarily the person they would contact when they had questions about the court’s position on certain operational matters. At no time in my tenure have I had the need to micromanage her leadership or question her decision making.”

Shackleford proved to be invaluable to Judge Michael Murry, who was elected in 2007.

“Bobbie is the consummate professional,” he said. “She presented herself as knowledgeable, self-motivated, and calm under pressure and dedicated to the vision and mission of the Xenia Municipal Court. She was a tremendous asset to me and the court. Bobbie will be missed and not easily replaced. She was absolutely an exemplary staff member and an even better person.”
