FAIRBORN — More than 1,600 new Wright State University students can be found on campus during the university’s annual Move-in Day.

Students will take up their new residence Thursday, Aug. 25. Move-in Day runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During the day, much of the Wright State community turns out to help new students move into 29 residence halls and on-campus apartments.

Move-In Day will include 110 golf carts, a fleet of luggage rollers and about 200 staff and faculty volunteers and 300 upperclassmen volunteers who will end their summer vacation early to help their peers settle on campus.

“It’s convenient to live on campus,” said Dan Bertsos, director of Residence Life and Housing. “The benefits of living on campus include developing autonomy by managing your own affairs, developing maturity and connecting to the campus better because you’re here all the time.”

This year marks the 25-year the Wright State community will come together for the Operation Move-in event.

“People generally enjoy the experience and find it to be a good day,” Bertsos said. “If there are tears, they are happy tears.”

Another 1,200 upperclassmen will move in to residence halls and apartments on Saturday, Aug. 27.
