Kil-Kare hosting practice tree race, Saturday

XENIA — The inaugural Kil-Kare Preseason warmup Practice Tree Race will take place Saturday at the Xenia H.O.G. Clubhouse, 1031 Cincinnati Ave., just north of Buckminn’s D&D Harley-Davidson. Doors will open at 6 p.m., racing begins at 6:30 p.m. Spectator admission is $5. Entry for Top Bulb is $35; Bottom Bulb is $20, and double entry is Allowed. We will have Kil-Kare Pizza, chips and soft drinks available for purchase.

Spring Street Car Nationals at Kil-Kare

XENIA — Kil-Kare Dragway will kick off its 2016 racing season with the Spring Street Car Nationals, on April 9. Gates will open at 10 a.m. Time runs will take place until noon, and first-round eliminations begin at 12:30 p.m. Cars are required to have a Elapsed Time of 14 seconds and up. Drivers must have valid tags, license, D.O.T Tires. No track prep, no burnout box. Entry is $50, with a $25 buy-back option. Winner will receive $1,000! Spectators get in for $5, carloads $10, kids 15 & under get in free with a paid adult.

Kil-Kare is located on 1166 Dayton-Xenia Road, in Xenia.

Spring Has Sprung 5K April 2

XENIA — Registration is now open for Greene County Public Health’s Seventh Annual Spring Has Sprung Healthy Families 5K Run-Walk Saturday, April 2 at the Xenia YMCA located at 135 E. Church St.

This event supports the efforts of the health district to provide and promote healthier lifestyle choices in Greene County, and encourages healthy, active lifestyles in Greene County.

Registration and check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Xenia YMCA with the pet- and stroller-friendly run-walk beginning at 9 a.m. The course features a flat terrain in and around the Xenia area beginning and ending at the Xenia YMCA. Afterwards, healthy refreshments will be provided and participants can visit the various sponsors and vendors in the gymnasium.

The cost is $15 per person by March 25, which includes an event T-shirt. After March 25, the cost is $20 per person – T-shirt not guaranteed. Teams of 10 or more are eligible to receive a discount. Medals will be awarded to the top three male/female in each age category and a grand prize will be awarded for the top male/female overall.

The Greene County Health District is looking for additional sponsors for the event. Beavercreek hosting fundamentals girls basketball camp

BEAVERCREEK — The 16th Amanda (Reese) Crockett and Ed Zink Beavercreek Fundamental Girls Basketball Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 6-9 at Beavercreek High School.

Cost is $100 per camper with a $10 discount for additional campers from the same family. Anyone who registers by May 20 can register for $90.

Camp will be administered and taught by Beavercreek’s all-time scoring leader Amanda (Reese) Crockett, and current Beavers coach and three-time coach of the year Ed Zink, along with current and former basketball players.

The camp is designed to provide campers with personal attention to improve their basketball fundamentals. Campers will also develop their skills and teamwork each day during league play.

Campers will receive a camp t-shirt, a drink each day, and trophies/awards for contest winners.

Also, Thursday June 9 is Mother-Daughter Camp Day, and family members are invited to participate.

Wood bat tournament set for June

STRUTHERS — The Bob Cene Baseball Complex will host an all-Ohio wood bat baseball tournament for teams with players ages 16-18, June 22 thru June 26. Contact Ken Quinn (330) 719-0581 for information.

Dragons single-game tickets on sale

DAYTON — Dayton Dragons 2016 single-game tickets will are now on sale at the Dragons Box Office located next to the main entry gates at Fifth Third Field.

Opening Day for the Dragons is set for 4 p.m., Saturday, April 9 against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The Dragons are scheduled to play 70 home games during the regular season. They will officially begin their 17th season of Midwest League baseball April 7 at Bowling Green.

The box office will be open throughout the season from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. On weekend game dates, the box office will open at noon and close in the seventh inning. The box office will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays when the team is on the road.

Single-game tickets can be purchased in person, at the Dragons box office, any Miami Valley Kroger store, or any Ticketmaster outlet, online, at daytondragons.com, or by calling the Dragons Box office at (937) 228-2287; or Ticketmaster charge-by-phone at (937) 228-2323.

There is never a convenience charge for tickets purchased at the Dragons box office. There is also no convenience charge for tickets purchased from the Dragons by phone at (937) 228-2287 (a shipping charge is added for tickets that are mailed).
