Bucs win over Meadowdale
DAYTON — Ella Walsh scored a team-high 16 points, Trinity Morton scored 10, Tarah Crawford and Aliyah Garnett scored six each, and Cora Stevens added five as the Xenia Buccaneers defeated Meadowdale, 43-36, Monday night. No stats were available for Meadowdale. Xenia led 31-27 after three quarters of play, then outscored the Lions 12-9 in the final period. Xenia (3-12, 1-2 Greater Western Ohio Conference, South) is scheduled to host Miamisburg at 7:30 p.m. today, Jan. 13.
Patriots rally past Beavercreek
BEAVERCREEK — After trailing 34-21 at halftime, Carroll outscored a solid Beavercreek team by a 41-16 margin in the second half to win Monday’s non-league neighborhood battle, 62-50. No individual statistics were provided by either team.
Carroll (9-5, 4-1 Greater Catholic League Co-Ed North) hosts Cincinnati McNicholas at 7:30 p.m. today, while the Beavers (11-3, 2-1 Greater Western Ohio Conference, Central) play at Springfield.
Bulldogs fall to Miami Valley
YELLOW SPRINGS — Elizabeth Smith scored a game-high 29 points, and Julian Roberts tossed in 16, for the Yellow Springs Bulldogs, but the visiting Miami Valley Rams escaped with a 78-54 win, Monday night at Yellow Springs High.
Elea Karras led the Metro Buckeye Conference-leading Rams with 24 points while Alyssa Clements and Tia Karras scored 17 points each in the win.
Yellow Springs (0-15, 0-6 MBC) is scheduled to host Middletown Christian next at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Murphy named Preseason All-American
FAIRBORN — Junior catcher Sean Murphy was named Third Team Preseason All-American by Perfect Game, it was announced on Monday.
Murphy (Centerville) was one of 20 semifinalists last season for the Johnny Bench Award, which is presented annually to the top collegiate catcher in the country. He earned First Team All-Horizon League honors as he hit .329, good for ninth in the league, with 36 RBI and 52 runs scored, good for fourth in the league. Behind the plate, Murphy threw out 17 would-be basestealers, 11 of those coming during league play. In 29 conference games, Murphy hit .325 with 18 RBI and 22 runs scored.
Murphy was named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team in 2015 as he led the squad with nine hits and a .474 average and tied for the team lead with seven runs scored. He then was selected to the NCAA Champaign Regional All-Tournament Team as he hit .375 with five RBI, five runs scored, three doubles and a.474 on-base percentage.
This summer, Murphy was chosen to the Cape Cod League All-Star Team while playing for the Orleans Cardinals.
The Horizon League Freshman of the Year in 2014, Murphy was a Second Team All-Horizon League selection that season and was named Academic All-Horizon League in 2015.
The Perfect Game Preseason All-American teams consist of 17 players each, with three full teams listed below, including detailed reports on all of the players listed on the first team. The players are selected based on a balance of past performance, 2016 expectations and their prospective talent relative to the MLB Draft.
Wright State won the Horizon League Tournament title in Whiting, Indiana, and made its fifth all-time appearance in the NCAA Division I Regionals in 2015, advancing to the finals for the first-time ever. The Raiders, who posted the second-most wins in a season in program history with 43, defeated Ohio and Notre Dame in Champaign, Illinois, for their first NCAA victories since 1994 and received votes in the final USA Today Coaches and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association polls.
WSU opens the 2016 campaign on Friday, February 19, with the opening game of a four-game series at Elon starting at 4 p.m. The home opener for the Raiders is set for Tuesday, March 8, with a 6:30 p.m. contest against Xavier at Nischwitz Stadium.
The 12th annual Wright State First Pitch Banquet will be held on Friday, February 5, at 6:30 on the main arena floor in WSU’s Nutter Center. Current major league pitcher and local native Justin Masterson will be the keynote speaker.

Reds Caravan set for Jan. 28-30
CINCINNATI — The 2016 Cincinnati Reds Caravan kicks off Thursday, Jan. 28 from the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum and will travel more than 3,300 miles with stops in five states over three days.
The Caravan is presented by the Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network.
The four Caravan tours travel through Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Tennessee providing fans with the opportunity to interact with current and former players, top minor leaguers, broadcasters and members of the Reds front office staff. At each of the 16 fan stops, the groups will field questions and sign autographs while time allows.
All Caravan fan stops are free and open to the public, and at each fan stop listed below the Reds will raffle two tickets to the 2016 Opening Day game on Monday, April 4 (4:10 pm) vs. the Philadelphia Phillies.
The North Tour includes broadcasters Thom Brennaman and Jim Day, pitcher J. J. Hoover (Thurs. & Fri. only), catcher Devin Mesoraco (Sat. only), minor league pitcher Cody Reed, former Reds catcher and Dayton Dragons catching coach Corky Miller, President of Baseball Operations Walt Jocketty, Chief Operating Officer Phil Castellini and mascot Mr. Redlegs.

The Reds Caravan will also visit over 20 of the Reds on Radio affiliates throughout Reds Country during the tours.
Additional Caravan participants may be added to select tours. Times are subject to change.
Reds sales representatives will be at each stop to answer ticketing questions and discuss 2016 ticket plans, while the Reds Hall of Fame, the Reds Community Fund and Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network will attend select stops.
Memberships to the Reds Heads Kids Club, Reds Rookies Baby Club, Club Red and Reds Hall of Fame & Museum will be for sale at select stops.
Seating is limited at all Caravan stops. Autographs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while time allows. No posed photographs. There may be restrictions on items celebrities can sign.
