Beavercreek at Carroll

DAYTON — The rivalry matchup between the Carroll Patriots and the Beavercreek Beavers got a little soggy, Friday night at Carroll High School.

The game was delayed several times due to lightning before being postponed. The two teams will play at 10 a.m. today at Carroll High School.

Beavercreek (1-0) is coming off a 45-7 win over Xenia in week one. Carroll (1-0) beat Meadowdale 45-30.

The fans didn’t let the rain dampen their spirits, however. The Carroll crowd, ironically dressed in swimsuits and Hawaiian shirts for Beach Night, chanted back and forth with the Beavercreek fans wearing black during the delays. They were asked to leave the stands at 7:40 p.m., 40 minutes after the game was scheduled to start.

Fairborn at Stebbins

RIVERSIDE— Fairborn High School varsity football coach Roy Thobe said his staff and that of host Riverside Stebbins were willing to take as long as it took to get Friday night’s football game in the books.

But with persistent lightning, and Edmundson Stadium having been cleared of fans twice as a result, the game’s officials had other ideas.

“We talked it over with the Stebbins coaches, and we’re ready to wait as long as it takes to get this game in,” Thobe said, moments after the stadium had been cleared for the second time. “Now it might be 3 o’clock in the morning by the time we finish this, but we’re willing to wait this out. Neither of us want to have to come back and do this all over again tomorrow.”

At 8 p.m., nearly an hour into Friday night’s lightning delay, Stebbins officials said the coaches and game officials would reconvene at 8:30 p.m. to decide whether or not they’d wait any longer.

The weather won.

Friday’s lightning-filled contest will resume today at 10 a.m. at Stebbins’ soggy Edmundson Stadium.

Xenia at Kings Mills Kings

According to GWOCsports.com, Friday’s high school football game between Xenia and host Kings was postponed as well. That game will take place at Kings High School at 7 p.m. today.

Greeneview at Madison Plains

According to a member of the Greeneview coaching staff, the Rams will resume their game 7 p.m. today at London Madison Plains.

Wilmington at Bellbrook

According to the Bellbrook High School Twitter account, Wilmington at Bellbrook was rescheduled for 10 a.m. today.
