The host Hamilton Joes defeated the Xenia Scouts, 5-2, Thursday night in the opening game of the best-of-three Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League playoff series at Hamilton’s Foundation Field.
The two teams return to action tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Grady’s Field on the Athletes In Action Sports Complex in Xenia for Game Two.
Xenia needs to win Friday night’s game to force a winner-take-all Game Three, back in Hamilton. Lose, and the Joes will advance to play the winner of the GLSCL’s other playoff series between the top-seeded Lima Locos and the three-time defending league champion Licking County Settlers.
In the league’s other opening playoff game Thursday night, regular season champ Lima defeated Licking County, 5-1.
