Buccaneers bowl past Greenville

XENIA — Nicholas Harbison tossed games of 321 and 183 for a match-high 414 two-game series as Xenia claimed a 2,252 to 1,876 win over Greenville on Monday. Other two-game Buccaneer series were rolled by Zane Eneix (380) and James McDaniel (354). Evan Adkins rolled the match’s high game, a 261. Dylan Estepp tossed the high series for Greenville with a 377.

Xenia leads the Greater Western Ohio Conference’s American South Division with a 5-4 overall, 3-3 division mark. They get back into division action on the road against second-place Riverside Stebbins (2-4, 2-4) at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13 at Pla-Mor Lanes.

Bellbrook nabs SWBL win

WAYNESVILLE — The Bellbrook boys basketball team recorded its first Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division win of the season Saturday, with a 62-56 road win over Waynesville. Donnie Crouch scored a team-best 15 points to go with his team-high 10 rebounds, Nathan Cordonnier scored 11 points to go with eight rebounds, while Jack Campbell, Ethan Savey and Chandler Wren scored nine points each.

Cory Clark led Waynesville with a game-high 18 points.

Bellbrook (3-4 overall, 1-3 SWBL Southwestern) is back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 when they play at Monroe.

Golden Eagles jolt the Jills

OAKWOOD — Eleven Bellbrook players scored in Saturday’s 44-29 girls basketball win over host Oakwood. Cassidy Hofacker led the way with 12 points scored, and Bekah Vine was the other Golden Eagle player in double figures with 10, and Cassidy Bereda led the team with 11 rebounds.

The SWBL Southwestern Division leaders (8-2 overall, 4-0 in the division) are next play at Germantown Valley View at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12.

Skyhawks rally past Troy

FAIRBORN — Down 8-7 after one period of play, the Fairborn girls basketball team outscored visiting Troy, 42-31, the rest of the way to claim Saturday’s 49-39 win in Greater Western Ohio Conference action. Chloe Johnson scored a season-high 21 points, and Skyhawk teammate Kaylie Cook finished with 12 in the win.

Fairborn is now 4-7 overall and 3-3 in the GWOC American South division. They next play Wednesday Jan. 11, when they’ll have a 7:30 p.m. tip-off at Tipp City Tippecanoe.

Xenia zapped at home

XENIA — Visiting Sidney claimed a 65-47 victory over Xenia on Saturday. Celena Taborn scored 40 points for Sidney, nearly outscoring the Buccaneers on her own. Alexis Claybaugh led Xenia with a dozen points, while Trinity Morton-Nooks finished with 10. Xenia is now 2-10 on the season (1-5 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference’s American South Division). They travel to play at Piqua for their next game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Carroll loses first of the season

KETTERING — Host Alter’s Braxtin Miller scored 24 points, and Knights teammate Libby Bazelak snagged 15 rebounds as they handed the Carroll girls basketball team their first loss of the season, 69-49, Saturday, in Greater Catholic League Co-Ed North action.

Ellie Rumme led the Patriots (11-1, 3-1 GCLC North) with 14 points, and Sydney Ingram tossed in 12 in the loss. Carroll hosted Beavercreek in a neighborhood battle Monday night. They are back in GCLC action Wednesday when they’ll host Middletown Fenwick at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Knights best Middletown Christian

XENIA — Host Xenia Legacy Christian Academy outscored Middletown Christian 37-28 in the second half of Friday’s boys basketball game, to claim a 56-47 Metro Buckeye Conference win. No individual statistics were provided by LCA (6-5, 2-2 MBC). The Knights play at MBC neighbor and foe Yellow Springs at 7 p.m., Tuesday Jan. 10.

On Saturday, the Tipp City Bethel Bees nipped LCA by a 66-59 score.

Miami Valley wins over Yellow Springs

DAYTON — The host Miami Valley Rams (4-5, 2-1 MBC) outscored Yellow Springs, 15-5 in the final quarter of play to claim Friday’s 57-47 win in boys basketball Metro Buckeye Conference action. Casey Gossett led Miami Valley with 16 points and nine rebounds, while teammate Marc Williams scored 12 points while hauling in 11 rebounds. No individual statistics were reported by the Bulldogs (1-8, 1-4 MBC).

Carroll falls to Alter

FAIRBORN — Kettering Alter outscored Carroll, 18-9, in the opening quarter, then held on for a 53-42 win, Friday at Wright State University’s Nutter Center. Eli Ramsey led the Patriots with 15 points and eight rebounds. Stafford Stevens was next for Carroll with a 13-point afternoon. No individual statistics were available for Alter.

Carroll (4-6, 0-3 in the Greater Catholic League Co-Ed North) plays at Dayton Stivers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Fairborn beaten on the road

VANDALIA — Host Butler outscored Fairborn 16-7 in the second quarter to open up a 29-19 halftime lead in Saturday’s Greater Western Ohio Conference American Conference game. The Aviators (4-5, 2-4 GWOC American North) won Friday night’s boys basketball game, 55-43. Michael Kreill led Butler with 14 points. The Skyhawks’ Shaunn Monroe led all scorers with 17 points, while teammates Branden Lilley finished with 13 points and Brandon Easterling added 11.

Fairborn (3-6, 3-2 GWOC American South) plays its next game at Troy at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Bulldog bowlers lose tri match

SPRINGFIELD — Emmanuel Christian nipped fellow Metro Buckeye Conference schools Middletown Christian and Yellow Springs in a tri-match, held Friday. No individual scores were turned in by Yellow Springs. Emmanuel Christian won the event with a 2,650 team score, followed by Middletown Christian (2,390) and Yellow Springs (1,519).

Yellow Springs (0-4, 0-2 MBC) will be back in action Jan. 16 at the Baker Bash, which will be held starting at 11 a.m. at Beaver Vu Lanes in Beavercreek.

Beavers batter Fairmont

KETTERING — Peyton Young and Jon Alessandro each scored 16 points, Jordan Williams scored 13 and Cedric Baldwin added 10 in Friday’s 70-55 Greater Western Ohio Conference, National East division boys basketball matchup. Beavercreek (6-4, 3-3 GWOC National East) will next host Clayton Northmont for a 7:30 p.m. game on Friday, Jan. 13.

Rams defeat Bulldogs

DAYTON — Morgan Minnich led Yellow Springs with 15 points scored, and Elizabeth Smith finished with nine points and 11 rebounds, but host Miami Valley came away with a 57-41 win Thursday in Metro Buckeye Conference play. Alyssa Clements led the Rams (10-2, 4-0 MBC) with a game-high 19-point effort.

Yellow Springs, now 5-4 overall, 1-2 in the MBC, hosted Legacy Christian Academy on Monday. They travel to play Dayton Christian at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at Watts Middle School.
