Indians fall to Madison Plains

SPRINGFIELD — Noah Myers was the top scorer for the Cedarville Indians with a 41, but London Madison Plains (2-0) had three golfers score 41 or better to claim a 168-191 win Thursday at Locust Hills Golf Club.

Madison Plains’ Jonathan Dill claimed medalist honors with a round of 38; teammate Clay Grear was second with a 40, while Myers and Madison Plains’ Anthony Tesi each had 41s.

Cedarville’s Adam Wood finished in the top-5 with a score of 46, Caleb Smith shot a 48 and Daly Blevins finished with a 56.

The Indians (0-1, 0-1 Ohio Heritage Conference) will compete in the Ridge Classic Friday at Kittyhawk Golf Course in Dayton.

Rams defeat Northeastern

SOUTH CHARLESTON — Zach Halder shot a 5-over 40 to claim medalist honors and lead the Greeneview Rams to their first boys golf win if the season, a 167-178 win over Springfield Northeastern, Thursday night at National Golf Links.

Other scorers for Greeneview (1-1, 1-1 Ohio Heritage Conference) were shot by Wade Hovan (43), Daniel Sage (45), Brayden Woods and Christian Phillips (42s) and Ethan Dailey (44).

Xenia Tornadoes hosting 2017 tryouts

XENIA — The Xenia Tornadoes semi-professional football team will hold a tryout for its 2017 team at 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at Spring Hill Park, located just off Ormsby Drive, in Xenia.

Tryouts are free, make sure you bring water cleats and shorts. Tryouts will consist of agility drills, route running, and more. Come out and give it a shot!

Bocce Blitz to benefit Carroll HS football program

RIVERSIDE — The second annual “Bocce Blitz” will be held Saturday, Aug. 20. at Sons of Bella Vista Hall at 2625 County Line Rd. Proceeds will benefit the Carroll Letterman Club which supports the Carroll High School football program.

First round starts at 3 p.m. The Bocce Blitz will recognize two special teams in Carroll history: the class of 1975 with an 8-2 record during the 1974 season; and the class of 2006 with an 11-3 record during the 2005 season.

The cost is $75 per player, including a steak dinner, or $30 for the dinner only, if pre-registered by Aug. 19. Players from the classes of 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 will be charged only $10 to play. Registration can be made at www.CarrollLettermanClub.com or can be mailed to 334 Grove Ave., Cincinnati, OH. 45215 with checks payable to the Carroll Letterman Club.

Xenia offering sports passes

XENIA — The Xenia High School Athletic Department will be offering four different all-sports passes for the 2016-17 school year. Passes are good for unlimited admission to all home Xenia athletic events for Middle School and High School. (Not valid for away contests or Ohio High School Athletic Association-sanctioned tournaments.)

The following passes are available:

Student Pass $50.00

Adult Pass $75.00

Family Pass $225.00 (good for 4 people in the same household). Additional family members in the same household may be added for $25 each.

Senior Citizens Pass FREE 62 years of age and older.

These passes can be purchased and picked up in the athletic department at the high school.

Fairborn Youth Wrestling program seeks coaches, directors

Reds offering ‘Sliding into Om’ yoga session

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds Major League Baseball organization is inviting yoga practitioners of all skills and ages to enjoy “Sliding into Om,” a one-hour yoga session, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 3 on the Great American Ball Park field in downtown Cincinnati.

For $15, fans can practice yoga on the outfield, and get a View Level ticket to the 1:10 p.m. Sept. 4 Reds game with the St. Louis Cardinals. All yoga participants will be recognized during the seventh inning stretch.

For $25, fans can obtain the same package as above, plus receive an exclusive Cincinnati Reds yoga mat.

Anyone 12 or younger can participate in the event for free, if they are accompanied by a paying adult. Parking is not included. To reserve a spot online, go to: reds.com/yoga.
