XENIA — Dr. S.C. Ellis was a founding partner of Medical Service Associates, one of the first group medical practices in the United States. He was born in 19-7 on a farm on Clifton Road, graduated from Central High school then The Ohio State University. He began his practice in Xenia in 1936 and for the next 38 years, cared for Greene County residents. During World War II, he served with the Army Medical Corps in Africa. He was the first recipient of the Torrence Award for Community Service.
