National Basketball Team searching for players
DAYTON —The USA Men’s National Basketball team will be hosting tryouts for players to join the team to represent the Unites States at the Jones Cup and Mitchell Cup this summer. The tryouts will be held from 12 - 4 p.m. this Sunday at Xenia Christian High School. Players with collegiate or overseas professional experience are welcome to attend.
The 2014 USA Men’s National Basketball Team will compete for the Jones Cup in August in Taiwan, and the Mitchell Cup in September in the Dominican Republic. The USA Men’s Olympic Team attends high profile Olympic qualifiers and the USA Men’s National Basketball Team works in concert with Team USA to attend other qualifiers worldwide, such as the Jones Cup. The Jones Cup is a FIBA recognized event that is respected worldwide, and will be aired on ESPN and Fox Sports.

Slam to host All-Star show
DAYTON — The Gem City Slam, Dayton’s minor league professional basketball team, will host the fifth annual Universal Basketball Association All-Star event at 5 p.m., Saturday, June 7 at the Ponitz Career Technology Center. The UBA All-Stars will compete in an All-Star basketball game, a three-point contest and and dunk contest.
This is the first year for Dayton as a member of the UBA and they will contribute several players to the All-Star festivities as the host city.
“We are organizing a very entertaining and exciting exhibition for the fans that will showcase not only the talents of the UBA players but also of the Gem City Slam,” says Slam coach, David Herzog.

CCN to host Titanium Golf Tournament
BEAVERCREEK — The 17th Titanium Golf Tournament will be held June 23 at the Country Club of the North. Cost for the four-person scramble is $175 per player, which includes lunch or dinner (depending on the round), greens fees, car, driving range use, course refreshments, gifts and prizes. Money from the tournament helps to underwrite the Greene Medical Foundation’s hospital needs, such as equipment, renovations, staff support and healthcare programs. The morning round tees off at 8 a.m., and the afternoon round is set for 1:30 p.m. Registration deadline is June 6. Several sponsorship options are available. Wright State to hold various summer camps
FAIRBORN — The Wright State Raiders will be holding numerous camps this summer for multiple sports. The summer camps include the following:
Volleyball: Coach Susan Clements and assistant coach Kara Hellmann will host six camps in July at the WSU McLin Gym, including four residential and two for commuters. Specialized camps include an Elite Setter Camp (July 11-13), Libero Camp (July 12-13), Hitter Camp (July 12-13) and a High Potential Camp (July 13-15). Women’s Soccer: The Wright State Girls’ Soccer Academy will be back this summer with an overnight camp (June 25-27) and two youth camps (July 7-10, July 14-17) held during the morning hours.
