XENIA CHRISTIAN 73, TRI-COUNTY NORTH 44: Jordan Freeman scored 27 points and fellow Ambassador Justin Martin finished with 22 to lead host Xenia Christian to Saturday’s win over Tri-County North. Jonny Eustace, Peter Wilson and Gabe Woodard scored six points each in the win. Xenia Christian led 36-8 at halftime.
BELLBROOK 84, MIAMI VALLEY 69: A quartet of Bellbrook Golden Eagles finished in double-figure scoring in Saturday’s home win over Miami Valley. Austin Hall and Josh Schumacher scored 17 points each to tie for team-high honors, Landon Singletary added a dozen points and Tom Krohn finished with 10 for Bellbrook. Six other Golden Eagles players scored two points or more in the win.
FAIRBORN 93, DAYTON MEADOWDALE 57: Malik Jacobs scored a team-high 20 points, Branden Lilley and Jordan Michael tossed in 18 points each, and Jordan Pumroy scored 15 in Fairborn’s home win Saturday. The Skyhawks held a 40-12 lead at halftime.
GREENON 51, SPRINGFIELD NORTHWESTERN 43: Northwestern’s Andy Elliott scored a game-high 24 points but it wasn’t enough to knock off the Greenon Knights on Friday. Chase Green scored 17 points and Tyler Restau dumped in 13 to lead Greenon.
CARROLL 64, SPRINGFIELD NORTHWESTERN 35: After the two teams were tied at 22-all at halftime, Carroll erupted in the second half. The Patriots outscored the Warriors 42-13 the rest of the way. There were no individual statistics available for this Division II sectional first round game held at New Carlisle Tecumseh High School. Fourth seeded Carroll will face seventh seeded Dayton Meadowdale, a 35-31 winner over New Paris Graham, in the sectional lower bracket semifinals. That game is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh High School.
Xenia sends five to state tournament (Middle School)
VANDALIA — Xenia Middle School wrestlers Peyton Bartley and Roman Johnson each finished third in their respective weight classes, while Jacob Stickle placed fifth in his division, to advance to the Ohio Junior High State Championship, which will be held March 8-9 in Youngstown.
Nolan Wagner and James Jackson each finished seventh in their respective weight classes to advance on to the state tourney as alternates.
Area wrestlers advance to district championships
Several area high school wrestlers placed in the top-4 of their respective weight classes to advance to Friday’s opening rounds of the Southwest District Wrestling Championships.
In Division III, Greeneview High will send five wrestlers — Harrison Gallagher (113 pounds), Logan Lacure (145), Armani Robinson (182), Adrian Harding (220) and Isaiah Harding (285) — to the district tournament which will be held at Troy High School.
Six Bellbrook wrestlers and a pair of Greenon wrestlers will be among the Division II district qualifiers at Wilmington High School. Nick Weaver (113), Cameron Kelly (126), Tyler Wiederholt (145), Benjamin Schram (160), Tim Tidwell (182) and Charles Broderick (285) will be on hand for Bellbrook. Corey Williams (152) and Aaron Leciejewski (220) advanced for Greenon.
The area will have three schools represented in the D-I district meet at Kettering Fairmont: Tyler Senter (106), Coty Hixson (126), Lawrance Dudgeon (138), Daylonn Dudgeon (160), Chase Neiswender (170) and Trevor Jackson (195) will compete for the Xenia Buccaneers; A.J. Warner (106), Tyler Cutlip (120), and Gunnar Parr (285) will be on hand for the Fairborn Skyhawks; while Colin Neuner (106), Austin Witt (132), Jacob Keller (145), Thomas Baker (220) and Mike Berry (285) will be on hand for the Beavercreek Beavers.
