Mental Health Seminar

XENIA — Dayton Avenue Baptist Church will host a women’s mental health seminar 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1. The workshop will be focused on mental health issues to encourage, educate and equip individuals, family members and the church for recovery.

Several area counselors and speakers will be sharing their knowledge and experience on these topics. The keynote speaker is Dr. Kris DeWitt, associate professor of psychology at Cedarville University.

Topics include: depression/anxiety, addiction, abuse, teen depression, emotional eating, pornography, postpartum depression, grief, miscarriage, divorce, OCD, caregiver support, and nutrition for healthy minds

The cost is $15 and includes lite breakfast and lunch. The church is at 1121 Dayton Ave.

Interfaith forum series

KETTERING — Christ United Methodist Church will host interfaith forums in the next six months.

The first in a series of programs addressing the ‘Perception of God’ from different faith perspectives 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 3440 Shroyer Road. The program will feature a Muslim and a Native American speaker.

Programs are free and open to the public. If you would like to bring a side dish to share, please exclude pork or shellfish. Please bring a list of ingredients in your homemade food for the benefit of those with dietary restrictions. Upcoming program dates include: April 30, May 27, June 4 and July 2.

Free clothing

FAIRBORN — The Fairborn United Methodist Church continues its ministry of the free clothing store, The Family Closet, located at Fairborn United Methodist Church, 100 N. Broad St. During 2016, the church offered free clothing, coats, and shoes to 248 homes in Fairborn plus 23 families in surrounding cities, including 470 adults, 116 teenagers, and 361 children — 947 individuals total.

The hours of operation for The Family Closet are 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9 – 11 a.m. the first Saturday of the month. Call the church at 937-878-5042 before holidays to make sure it is open. All clothing is donated whether it is used or new. Anyone needing clothing is welcome to come.

Racing Extinction

KETTERING — Christ United Methodist Church will host a presentation of the movie “Racing Extinction”3-5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26 at Foster Hall, 3440 Shroyer Road. The Racing Extinction team exposes these two worlds in an inspiring affirmation to preserve life as we know it.

Concepts of God series

KETTERING — Christ United Methodist Church will host a presentation, Continuation of Concepts of God series, with guest speaker 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 30 at Foster Hall, 3440 Shroyer Road.Tina Porter will be the speaker for Paganism and Jessica Williams will be the speaker for Atheism.
