XENIA — Some “Cool Critters” will be visiting Xenia First Fridays.
The animals are the focus of the Cincinnati-based outreach program. Among the visitors will be a 50 pound tortoise, snakes, a hedgehog and lizards. They will be mingling with attendees 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Montgomery parking.
While waiting on the critters to arrive, be sure to check out some of the other entertainment, such as the Xenia Rotary-sponsored bouncy house in Whiteman Parking Lot, Lucky the Clown on West Main Street, the silent auction at 57 W. Main St., and magician, Dave Davis along South Detroit Street. J.J. Pethtel will be strolling the event, showing off his yo-yos and juggling skills. Greene County Library will be holding a children’s book sale in the bookmobile at Whiteman Street. There will be a special dance performance by Dance Loft Plus 7 p.m. at Montgomery Parking lot.
August’s musical guest will be Bluzion, a local blues band, which features music many genres including R&B, gospel, jazz, rock and funk to make sure that you’re on your feet and enjoying the music.
From the early days to the present, come see how cars have changed over the years at the First Fridays Cruise In at Towne Square. Also be sure to purchase an official Cruise-In T-shirt for $10.
The food court will feature a Craig’s Pesto Dogs and Sugar Shack. Rubio’s and pork chop sandwiches from Cork ‘n’ Bottle will also be available.
The Selfie First Fridays Contest is back as well. Simply “Like” the First Fridays in Xenia Facebook page and take a selfie of you enjoying the festivities then post it to the First Fridays in Xenia Facebook page — https://www.facebook.com/XeniaFirstFridays. The winner will be notified via their post on Facebook after a drawing on Saturday. Pictures must be posted by 9 p.m.
Catherine Wilson from The Greene County Historical Society will be conducting a walking tour at the courthouse 6:30 p.m. and will be ready to share her knowledge and answer any of your questions. And if you are interested in what the inside of a caboose looks like or have railroad questions, stop by Xenia Station 5-7 p.m.
