XENIA — More than 1,400 runners are registered and will hit the streets and bike paths of Xenia and surrounding areas Sunday, April 6 for the annual Ohio River Road Runners Club (ORRRC) marathon and half-marathon.
The marathon (26.2 miles) and half-marathon (13.1 miles) will start and finish at the Xenia YMCA. Both courses will pass Shawnee Park, Greene Memorial Hospital, and portions of Edison Boulevard, Sutton Drive, North Monroe Drive, Collier Street, South Columbus Street, and Hill Street. The remainder of the race courses will use the Ohio-to-Erie bike path and some rural roadways. The half-marathon course will turn around near Central State University, while the full marathon course will turn around near Cedarville, before heading back to the finish line.
Both races start at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Citizens should be aware there will be a significant number of visitors in Xenia that day, and drivers should be cautious when traveling along the race area. Xenia police officers and Greene County Sheriff deputies will be available to provide traffic control and safe crossings for runners and spectators. The following partial or complete road closures will be in effect between approximately 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.:
• East Church Street near YMCA (also closed between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m.)
• Edison Boulevard
• Sutton Drive
• Wilson Drive between Sutton and North Monroe Drives
• North Monroe Drive between Wilson Drive and Edison Boulevard
• North and South Collier Street
• South Columbus Street between the Ohio-to-Erie Bike Path and Hill Street
• Hill Street east of South Columbus Street
