DAYTON — Carroll High School Freedom Players will perform the musical “On the Town” on March 21-23.


Written by Betty Comden and Adolph Green with music by Leonard Bernstein and produced with association with the Tams-Witmark Music Library, this musical details the exploits of three sailors on leave in New York for twenty four hours.


Gabey, Ozzie, and Chip (played by, Jacob Ollier, Josh Marino, and Anthony Lehmenkuler respectively) are the Navy sailors out on the town to take in the nights, lights, and sights.


During their exploits they pick up a spunky cab driver, Hildy (played by Jenny Clemens) and a passionate anthropologist, Claire (played by Mikaela Alioto) on their quest to find the elusive Ivy Smith (Played by Anna Schlegel) for their friend Gabey. Along the way they’ll encounter Claire’s understanding fiancé Judge Pitkin (Played by Fred Blackwell), Ivy’s domineering vocal coach, Madame Dilly (Played by Emily Marticello) and Hildy’s spirited roommate Lucy Schmeeler (Played by Ashley Dunham).


Student Directors are Eric Dahlstrom and Mercedes Warren. Mattie Carter, Ben Seiter and Craig Iannacchione are Stage Managers. Costume Managers are Kathleen Florentine, Nell Sundra and Crystal Hellwig. Anna Schlegel is the hair and makeup chairperson. Student choreographers are Marissa Friel and Emily Hentrich. The cast and crew consist of over 80 Carroll students in grades 9-12.


The Carroll Freedom Players are directed by Toni Weitz and Diane Walters. Stage Director is Jack Glaser.


Carroll Drama is teaming up with Sunday Bingo to offer “Bingo and a Show.” The $15 bundle ticket includes admission to the 2 p.m. show on Sunday, a drink from concessions during intermission and admittance to 12 faces of Bingo after the show.


Food and drink is available for purchase before the show and at intermission. Baked goods are provided by The Culinary Arts Department. Profits will go towards funding the Drama trip to New York City in April.


Tickets can be purchased at the school office, online or at the door. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens. Children 5 and under are free. The performance will be in the high school gymnasium, 4524 Linden Ave. Visit www.carrollhs.org.
