XENIA — Alexandra Stickle, a 2015 graduate of Greeneview High School, received the annual Duteil Memorial Scholarship recently.

The public charity is in memory of Diana Duteil who was a 1983 graduate of Greeneview. Stickle received the $5,000 award, given yearly to a senior girl in Greene County who is pursuing a career in the sciences. Stickle began her pursuit of a career in veterinary medicine at Findlay College this month.

In an ironic twist to the scholarship award this year, Joe Stickle, Alexandra’s father, was also a member of the Greeneview class of 1983, bringing the memorial scholarship to full circle, according to Dolores Frederick, a member of the committee who hosts the annual fund-rasier and awards presentation at her Beavercreek home.

“Nobody knew it,” Frederick said.

The annual fund-raiser featured catering from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and a local band. About 160 attended, Frederick said.

“Every year it seems to grow,” she said.
