YELLOW SPRINGS — Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church of Yellow Springs will host a spiritual community event 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 at the church on State Route 68. Religious education classes are available for youth in preschool to sixth grade, beginning at 10 a.m.
The subject of the discussion with bill “How the Separation of Church and State Affects Major Issues: Gay marriage, birth control and abortion, teaching science in the public schools, etc.” with Rev. Martha Kline. Rev. Kline will address the following questions in her presentation: What does the Constitution say about the issue and what did our founding leaders say? How have recent Supreme Court cases dealt with it? How do the free exercise of religion and the establishment clause of the Constitution create complexities? Do religious organizations have a role in the public domain? What is ceremonial deism and how did the Supreme Court use it in cases involving “In God We Trust” on our money? All are welcome to attend.
