XENIA — A new pet supply shop with what owners call a unique twist is opening in Xenia.

Yellow Dog Pet Supplies, Gifts and Decor is set to open its doors 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, offering shoppers hard-to-find items made in the U.S.

Located at 30 S. Detroit St., in one of the Blue Jacket Books annexes, the new business is focusing on selling dog treats that are good tasting and good for dogs, along with other items ranging from bully bones to grain-free, oven-baked canned dog and cat foods. The dog and cat food partners Pete Waltz and Carol Flory offer are available only in locally owned pet stores.

“We don’t want to be just another pet store,” Waltz said. “We want to offer our customers products they may not otherwise be able to find for their pets, and when purchasing gifts and decor items for themselves.”

The pair traveled to the Pet Supply Symposium in Florida to search out and bring back an array of the newest pet supplies.
