FRANKFORT, Ky. — A Central State University student was shot in Kentucky early Wednesday morning, according to Frankfort police. Donta Berry was reported shot in the abdomen and was in serious condition but is expected to survive the injury.

According to information obtained from LEX18 in Lexington, Ky., Berry and a female Kentucky State University student were shot following a altercation that occurred at an off-campus party.

“The victims left and later pulled into [a car wash],” the TV station reported. “They say a dark sedan drove up with people inside they thought they knew. That’s when shots were fired from the dark sedan at the victims.”

The KSU student received non-life threatening injuries. According to LEX18, a third person in the vehicle was not injured.

The incident occurred between 2:15 and 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.
