FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Community Health Expo is aiming to provide information to attendees regarding community resources. The event will be held on Oct. 3 at Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, 326 E. Dayton Yellow Springs Road.

A 5K Fun Run and one mile Fun Walk will kick off the day. Registration for the race is free and begins 9 a.m., with the race beginning 10 a.m. First and second place winners will be awarded in each race, in addition to door prizes during the expo.

Premier Community Health and Kettering Health Network will be providing free screening for diabetes, cholesterol, depression, Body Mass Index, stress and blood pressure. Flu shots will be offered free or at a reduced cost (based on need).

Information on free community resources such as the food pantry (FISH), shelters, clothing, Fairborn Senior Center, financial advice, free hygiene kits, health insurance (Medicaid enrollment) and access to health care, fire safety and the library will be made available. A children’s learning area will be provided where children and parents can learn about dental health, smart food choices and other topics.

Attendees can get free transportation to the event beginning 9:30 a.m. from St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 100 E. Main St., every hour; return trips every half-hour. A free hot meal is being served 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
