XENIA — Members of the Rho Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority donated more than 250 backpacks filled with essential supplies to Xenia Community Schools Monday.

The money was raised through the regional cluster and proceeds went to purchase more than 4,200 items including pens, pencils, notebooks and calculators to be given to students who need them.

“At this point in time we celebrate the holidays as a season of giving,” Board Member Cheryl Marcus said.

The cluster included chapters from Columbus, Cincinnati and Wilberforce.

“We were just happy that we’re able to make the donation to the Xenia Community Schools,” said sorority member Rosanna Jivens.
