JAMESTOWN — The water tank in Jamestown will be emptied this weekend as crews prepare to repair a small hole Monday.

After a plate is welded, the coating will be reapplied and the tank will be disinfected before refilling. The entire project should be done by Tuesday according to water department supervisor Dale Church.

Residents should not have any service interrupted, Church said, because the 400,000 gallon tower is just for storage. There is enough water in the pressurized system to last for two days.

As long as the pumps stay operational, there will be water, according to Church.

He said the fire department has a contingency plan in the event of a major fire.

Residents signed up for phone alerts received the information Thursday morning.
