BEAVERCREEK — The Mall at Fairfield Commons welcomed Santa Claus via sleigh on Nov. 11 and that evening hosted its Second Annual Wreath Lighting all to kick off a variety of upcoming events at the Mall.

“The Mall at Fairfield Commons is excited to kick-off the holiday season with the Second Annual Wreath Lighting event,” said Hannah Mohler, marketing director at The Mall at Fairfield Commons. “This annual celebration marks the beginning of our seasonal celebrations, which are sure to complement visitors’ holiday shopping traditions.”

This year, The Mall at Fairfield Commons will offer the following holiday happenings presented by Soin Medical Center:

Photos with Santa

Children and their families can experience the magic of the holiday season with the Santa Photo Experience at the Dayton Children’s Santa’s Village in Center Court from Nov. 11 to Dec. 24. Families are invited to visit Santa for family photos all season long.

Warm Hands – Warm Hearts Drive

The Mall at Fairfield Commons is giving back with impact during its Warm Hands, Warm Hearts Drive Nov. 11 to Dec. 9. Shoppers are encouraged to donate new, unused cold weather accessories at Guest Services to be given to the Family Violence and Prevention Center. For every cold weather item donated, shoppers will be entered for a chance to win a $250 American Express Mall Gift Card.

Sensitive Santa

Feel the spirit and joy during The Mall at Fairfield Commons’ Sensitive Santa event 9-11 a.m. Dec. 4. Sensitive Santa will provide children with special needs and their families with a sensory friendly environment to safely experience the time-honored tradition of visiting Santa Claus. Therapy Connections will also be hosting an activity center for families during the event. Reservations must be made in advance. Please RSVP to [email protected] before Nov. 28.

Polar Bear Express

All aboard the Polar Bear Express! Kids will be taken on a free train ride to the North Pole where they will be greeted by Mrs. Claus, who will be handing out cookies and hot cocoa. After the little elves enjoy tasty treats, they’ll be treated to a special story time with Mrs. Claus and have the chance to create holiday-inspired arts and crafts. As an added bonus, all kids will also get to take home a holiday story book of their choice, while supplies last 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9.

Holiday sweets and treats

Treat your sweet tooth to cookies, brownies, fudge and more at the first ever Sweets & Treats Expo 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 and 12-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Delicious homemade sweets will be offered by local bakers and will be available for purchase on the lower level Macy’s Court during this weekend long event.

Gingerbread House Making Contest

Test your creativity at the first ever Gingerbread House Contest 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14. Four families will go head to head to create a one-of-a-kind gingerbread house in one hour. At the end of the hour, each gingerbread house will be critiqued by local celebrity judges. The winning family will receive a $150 American Express Mall Gift Card. Spectators are welcomed to cheer on the families. Mix 107.7 will also be hosting a live radio remote at the event.

Breakfast with the Snow Queen

Families can enjoy a special breakfast with the Snow Queen and her sister at Bravo! Cucina Italiana 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. Cost is $5.95 for kids; $11.95 for adults.
