BEAVERCREEK & XENIA — Ervin Gruia has a vision as the new director of business development for Soin Medical Center and Greene Memorial Hospital, both part of Kettering Health Network.

“I want the community to see Soin and Greene in Greene County as the care providers of choice for all their health needs,” he said. “I want them to know we want to understand the goals of our patients in order to deliver the best possible care. In Greene County we partner with physician groups and community, government, and local organizations in order to focus on body, mind and spirit – this holistic approach sets us apart.”

Excited to be working at Greene and Soin the new director said, “It’s fantastic here, we have an amazing team and I’m proud to be part of these hospitals. We have staff, nurses, physicians and managers that all know these communities very well and have a passion for Greene County.”

Gruia’s career has come full circle in healthcare. He began his career with Walla Walla General Hospital in marketing and sought education in the chaplaincy program. Then he would follow his family’s business in long-term care. Following that experience Gruia worked for the Multnomah County health department.

He then entered the energy industry for a stint working for Portland General Electric and Enron Broadband Services. During that time he still worked with health care facilities through his energy work. He then returned again to health care to serve as director of business development for Adventist Health, and it is there his career path brought him and his family to Greene County.

To be a good development director Gruia said, “I believe being a good listener is key. Listening to our patients, learning from our medical staff, physicians and nursing staff as to how they best want to be served.”

Gruia said essential to serving the community is making health care accessible and convenient for all of Greene County, something he has already witnessed since he arrived this summer.

Gruia, his wife – a nurse and educator—and three children live in the Centerville area. When he is not working in Greene County he and his family enjoy outside activities, music and art.

“In the short time we have lived here I have been blown away by the warmth and Midwest friendliness. My family and I are really happy to be here.”
