FAIRBORN — Main Street and Central Avenue in the City of Fairborn will be lined with a variety of unique cars and trucks from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept 18 during its 26th Annual Fall Cruise In and Car Show.
A pre car show cruise in will take place 5:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 on Main St. between Central and Pleasant Avenues.
A number of military vehicles from different eras will line Central Avenue. Local truck hauling owner Jerry Howard will have several antique semis ranging from a 1949 Peterbilt to a 1971 Diamond Reo on display.
The event will benefit Dayton Children’s Hospital and Greene Medical Foundation’s Circle of Victory, which assists cancer victims. The event is sponsored by Auto Zone and is hosted by the Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds will be used for the purchase of vital medical equipment to provide the best pediatric care for children in their time of need.
Registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 for a $15 fee. Participants can pick up registration forms in advance at the Chamber office or Foy’s Variety Store. The cost includes a T-shirt and goodie bags for the first 250 registrants. Participants will also have an opportunity to win one of the more than 140 plaques and trophies, which will be awarded during the event.
Highlighting the 3:30 p.m. awards ceremony will be the presentation of the six-foot tall trophy. The recipient will be selected by youngsters from the Dayton Children’s. Additional top selections include the Mayor’s, Chamber’s, Fairborn Schools’ Superintendent, Autozone and the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Commander’s Award.
The “Best of Awards” will be presented for original, rod, pro street muscle, late model, truck, engine, paint, interior, rat rod, best overall motorcycle and best Harley Davidson.
The Sunday show will take place along Main St from Pleasant Ave to Wright Avenue and on Central Avenue from Xenia Drive to Dayton Drive. Last year’s event drew over 260 vehicles.
Operation Fairborn Cares will be conducting a “Heels For Heroes” fundraiser at 1 p.m. Sunday in conjunction with the car show. The one-block race features men racing in high heels and women wearing combat boots.
