GREENE COUNTY — Residents in Greene County will have seven contested races and many uncontested races to vote on during the General Election Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Aside from the national presidential race there are races for US Senate and US Representative 10th District. Second term incumbent Rob Portman (R) and former governor Ted Strickland (D) face off represent the US Senate. Strickland has served in the House of Representatives previously.
Robert Klepinger (D) is challenging incumbent Mike Turner (R) for US Rep 10th District. Turner is former Mayor of Dayton.
Ohio Supreme Court has contested races for the two justice positions. One seat is available as Justice Judith A. Lanzinger has reached mandatory retirement age. Therefore Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge John O’Donnell (D) is challenging Ohio First District Court of Appeals Judge Pat Fischer (R). Justice Paul Pfeifer’s seat is open as he too has reached mandatory retirement age. Ohio Eleventh District Court of Appeals Judge Cynthia Rice (D) is challenging Ohio First District Court of Appeals Judge Pat DeWine for the spot. DeWine is a Greene County native and son of Attorney General Mike DeWine.
The State Senate Race for 10th District Matthew Kirk (D) of Yellow Springs is running against Robert Hackett (R) of London.
Rick Perales (R) of Beavercreek is being challenged by Brian Housh (D) of Yellow Springs for the 73rd District State Rep Seat.
Barb Niemeyer (D) is challenging incumbent Bill Dean (R) for the 74th District State Rep.
The following are the uncontested races for Greene County voters which each one are unchallenged Republicans: Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice – Maureen O’Connor; Court of Appeals Judge – Michael Hall; Court of Appeals Judge – Michael Tucker; Court of Appeals Judge – Mary E. Donovan; Greene County Court of Common Pleas – Michael Buckwalter; Greene County Court of Common Pleas – Adolfo A. Tornichio; Greene County Commissioner – Bob Glaser; Greene County Commissioner – Thomas Koogler; Greene County Prosecutor – Stephen Haller; Greene County Clerk of Courts – Terri Mazur; Greene County Sheriff – Gene Fischer; Greene County Recorder – Eric Sears; Greene County Treasurer – Dick Gould; Greene County Engineer – Robert Geyer; Greene County Coroner – Kevin Sharrett.
