XENIA — The Greene Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) will hold its annual meeting 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Greene County Career Center’s new Agricultural Research Center, 551 Brush Row Road. The meeting will offer an inside look at this new educational facility. The ARC gives high school students the opportunity to specialize in Equine or Veterinary Science programs. FFA Officers from three FFA Chapters in Greene County will be on hand to show you around and answer any questions on agricultural programming for youth in Greene County. Each year Greene SWCD honors individuals and/or groups for their promotion of conservation. Krajicek Farms will be recognized as the 2012 Cooperator of the Year Award — keeping conservation part of their row crop and livestock operations. Greene County FFA will be awarded the 2012 Conservation Partnership Award — recognizing their continued support of conservation through various sponsored activities. Stop by to learn more about these deserving award winners. Recognizing local conservationists Two Greene SWCD Supervisor positions are up for election. Craig Corry, Scott Harner, Monette Randall, and David Quallen are candidates. Supervisors volunteer their time to guide conservation programming in Greene County. Polls will be open for voting from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. on December 4 at the ARC. Anyone who is a resident of, or owns property in, Greene County and is at least 18 years of age is eligible to vote. Conservation Awards will be given at 5 p.m. Free sausage sandwiches, courtesy of Old Town Butcher Shop, and light refreshments will be served.
