| | Students selected for math academy | ENON — The world of math will come alive for two Indian Valley Middle School students this summer.
Greenon students Amanda Remmetter and Ally Whittaker both earned spots in the prestigious Bullock Math Academy offered through Wittenberg University.
Amanda was one of eight Clark County seventh-graders selected from among 71 applicants to participate in the Academy. Sixth-grader Ally competed against 77 students to earn one of eight spots in the program.
The mission of the Bullock Math Academy is to provide a rigorous and innovative academic program focused on mathematics, which inspires and empowers students to pursue math related careers and to make significant contributions to the global community. Friday, May 31, 2013

| | First all-day kindergarten for Greenon | ENON — The Greenon Local School District will offer all-day kindergarten to all students for the first time for the 2013-14 school year.
“All-day kindergarten is a sound investment, both academically and financially,” said Superintendent Dan Bennett. “We anticipate increased state funding because the children will be attending full-time and we minimized our costs by adjusting staffing levels throughout the district so there would be no additional personnel expenses.”

| | WPAFB offers cyberspace program | WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — The Air Force Institute of Technology’s Center for Cyberspace Research is accepting applications for fall enrollment to its Scholarship for Service program.
The program offers master’s degrees in cyber operations, computer engineering and electrical engineering to non-military students, with placement into military cyber operation careers upon the successful completion of training.

WILBERFORCE — Dr. Kimberly D. Kendricks, chair, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, College of Science and Engineering is among 19 professors across the nation selected to participate in the Executive Leadership in Academic Technology and Engineering (ELATE at Drexel) Course at Drexler University in Philadelphia this 2013-2014.
Kendricks, a Dayton native, graduated from the Miami Valley School in Kettering, OH in 1999. She received dual Bachelors of Science degrees in mathematics and business in 2003 and 2004 respectively from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pen. She received a Master’s degree and a Doctorate degree in mathematics in 2006 and 2007 respectively from Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. Kendricks is the daughter of Lillie Howard and the late Willie Kendricks of Dayton.
