OVI checkpoint yields three arrests

FAIRBORN — An OVI checkpoint held this weekend by the Ohio State Highway Patrol resulted in two OVI arrests and one driving under suspension arrest. The checkpoint was held on Colonel Glenn Highway east of North Fairfield Road in Fairborn from 11 p.m. July 18 to 3 a.m. July 19.Lt. Douglas Eck of the highway patrol’s Xenia post reported that officers at the checkpoint checked 235 motorists, eight of which had consumed alcohol and were evaluated for impairment. One of the OVI arrests came at the checkpoint and the other resulted from officers on a nearby OVI saturation patrol.Eck said the highway patrol sets up checkpoints at high crash and OVI arrest areas.
