CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University’s theatre department will premiere its comedic fall production of “Father of the Bride” October 1-11 in the DeVries Theatre on campus.

The production is based on Edward Steeter’s classic American comedy “Father of the Bride.” The story portrays the Banks family as they experience the joys and stresses of their daughter’s wedding preparations. Kay Banks, the daughter and bride, is a strong-willed character who is trying to manage her wedding, all while having to encourage her frazzled father.

Rebecca Baker, M.A., director and associate professor of theatre, believes that the audience will quickly relate to the play.

“This story portrays what family life is like when things are falling apart,” Baker said. “It also exemplifies the amount of joy, love and laughter a family experiences as they work through it together.”

Emma Kowatch, a junior theater major from Fort Wayne, Ind., will play the role of Kay Banks, and is excited for the audience to experience the energetic performance.

“The director has emphasized the authenticity of the characters and pushed us to present a dynamic family with upbeat movements and fast-paced dialogue that people can relate to,” Kowatch said.

Tickets are currently on sale for $12 for students, $15 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at cedarville.edu/ticketinfo or by calling 937-766-7787.
