Xenia tree walk scheduled

For Greene County News

XENIA — Learn about the wide variety of trees growing in Shawnee Park through a guided walk with Xenia Tree Committee members, Five Rivers MetroParks Horticulturist Rich Pearson and Certified Arborist Chuck Poore at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 26. Participants should meet at the pavilion at the center of Shawnee Park.

During the walk, participants will hear about the age, species and special features of the trees that create an urban forest within the city of Xenia. The walk is free and open to the public. Participants must be over the age of 18 or be accompanied by an adult.

The Xenia Tree Committee is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to education, preservation and conservation of the urban forest.
