Matthew 10:1 “And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.”

Recently on a long car trip, our family enjoyed listening to the George Orwell classic “Animal Farm” on audio book.

“While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.’ Then he fell on his knees and cried out, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’ When he had said this, he fell asleep.” (Acts 7:59-60a)

Matthew 9:35 “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.”

In this article, we can observe a very important lesson from a biblical patriarch about the power of words.

“Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul… And Saul approved of their killing him.” (Acts 7:58b, 60b)

Matthew 9:20 “And behold, a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind Him, and touched the border of His cloak … ”

“Be fruitful and multiply” is a well-known phrase from the Bible, found in the book of Genesis. This phrase, often interpreted as being a commandment to procreate, can be applied to many areas of our lives, including making disciples and building things — families, communities, buildings, works of art; the list is endless.

“When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. ‘Look,’ he said, ‘I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.’ At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him.” (Acts 7:54-58a)

Matthew 9:17a “Neither is new wine put into old wineskins.”
