BELLBROOK — Cuvee has been transformed from an ordinary wine bar to a winery boutique that has something for everyone. With new ownership, Ken Kraus and Maria Taylor are now one step closer to achieving a lifelong dream of opening their own winery. They took over ownership in June and have been striving to make Cuvee a fresh and exciting meeting place. Cuvee is located at 4457 W. Franklin Street and open Tuesday through Saturday. It has a new look and a new menu.
In addition to their new ownership, husband and wife, Kraus and Taylor are maintaining their day jobs as real estate agents with Keller William Realty in Bellbrook. After a long day working, they visited the old Cuvee for a glass of wine.
“The owner said they sold the place, but they didn’t think it was going to go through. Jokingly, we said if it didn’t go through to give us a call. A week later, we were buying the wine bar,” Cuvee owner, Maria Taylor said. “I know it was 180 degrees off what we do, but this was always a passion of ours. I’ve always had a passion for food and Ken makes wine at home. Our long-term goal was to buy a winery.”
The redefined Cuvee has created a welcoming environment by separating the wine and retail displays, opening up the seating area to create an intimate atmosphere allowing great conversation and meetings, offering a cooler full of craft beers, including Toxic Brewing Co. beers, and offering a full service bar including mixed drinks.
It also offers great food such as cheese plates, bacon mac & cheese, peach Bourbon pulled chicken sliders, smoke salmon and more. The owners also plan to extend the bar to offer more room for gather. In addition to the wines, beers, drinks and food, Cuvee offers live music and accommodates private parties.
“We really enjoy it. It’s been hard work, but very satisfying. I handle the food side and Ken handles the wine side,” Taylor said. “We have a great group of people who come in here. There are people coming back that haven’t been here in years and new people coming in everyday. Everyone has been so kind. I get emails from people telling us how much they love the food, wines and new atmosphere.”
Cuvee’s menu and specials rotate every week, creating a new and fresh experience with every visit. Special events are offered to broaden the taste buds for not only wine and beer drinkers, but also food. With food, wine and beer pairings and tastings, the variety creates excitement not found in other area wine bars.
“We never carry wines that are found at Kroger or Meijer. We hand-pick and taste every wine and beer we carry. We pick our selection not just on the taste, but also on their story, price and season,” Taylor said. “It’s a wonderful place for an opportunity to taste great wines, eat great foods, reconnect with old friends and make new ones.”

“We have been residents of Bellbrook for the last 11 years and have children in the schools. Our businesses have been based in this area and we are dedicated in making sure Bellbrook has a great place to enjoy themselves,” Taylor said.
