CLARK COUNTY (WDTN) – One person was killed and another injured after a truck crashed and exploded on Interstate 675 late Thursday night.
Lt. Brian Aller with the Ohio State Highway Patrol told 2 NEWS Chay Demint, 21, of Fairborn, was southbound on the interstate when he lost control and hit a barrier wall. The truck started to catch fire. Someone who witnessed the accident tried to get Demint away from the burning truck, but he apparently refused.
Another vehicle heading south hit the truck, pushing it back onto the interstate. Demint, who was standing in the road, was killed. The driver of the other vehicle, Gregory McQueen, Jr., 28, of New Carlisle, was taken to Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek.
Troopers shut down a portion of I-675 where it crosses over I-70 for several hours so they could reconstruct the accident.
“With something like this, if your car is on fire, get away from it and get well off the roadway,” Aller said. “Don’t stand in the roadway. Get off the road.”
