XENIA — Construction of an enhancement project for Main Street between Church Street and King Street near downtown began this week.
The City awarded a contract to R.A. Miller Construction Company of Hamilton, Ohio to install decorative streetlighting, landscaping enhancements, curb, sidewalk, ADA ramps, and drive approaches.
The planned enhancements will improve the look of Main Street. The projected project completion date is by the end of July.
During the construction one lane on either side of Main Street will be closed to construct the curb. Also the drive approaches to several businesses will be removed and replaced. The approaches will be installed in halves to allow traffic in and out of the businesses at all times.
This project grew out of the City’s 2008 Downtown Strategic Plan, coupled with the X-plan, and the ODOT local-let program.
By enhancing this “gateway” to downtown, the project will create a better “first impression” of Xenia.
