Area athletes sign letters of intent

Carroll student signs with Anderson University


DAYTON — Carroll High School senior Lyssa Engle recently signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Anderson University in South Carolina. Anderson is an NCAA Division-II school and competes in the South Atlantic Conference. Engle was the no. 1 recruit for the class of 2014 and received athletic and academic scholarships resulting in a “full ride.”


Engle is a four-year member of the Carroll soccer and swim teams and was All-Greater Catholic League in both. She ran varsity track for two years, and has been a member of the Cincinnati United Premiere Gold soccer team for five years. She was a nine-year member of Regional/State Olympic Development Program and in 2009 she was selected as a member of the ODP Ohio South soccer team that travelled to Germany and Holland to play four European teams.


Eichner signs with Capital University


BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek resident David Eichner has committed to play football for Capital University. He was a two-year starter and key contributor on the offensive line for Archbishop Alter’s 2013 regional finalist playoff team that finished 11-2. His honors included the Most Improved Junior award and selection to the All-Greater Catholic League Second Team. Eichner chose Capital over offers from Ohio Northern and Wittenberg
