DAYTON — The Miami Valley Division of the American Heart Association will host hundreds of local guests at its 19th Annual Heart Ball, “Ignite the Heart of the 20’s,” on Saturday, March 22, 2014, beginning at 6 pm at the Sinclair Community College David H. Ponitz Center in Dayton. More than 400 guests will join event chair Marjorie Bowman, MD, Dean of the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University to honor local heart disease survivors and celebrate life during this special event. The Heart Ball will be emceed by Marsha Bonhart of WDTN, herself a stroke survivor.
“We are excited about this year’s 1920’s theme,” said Sybil Martin, Heart Ball Director of the Miami Valley Division of the American Heart Association. “We invite everyone to wear the ‘20’s inspired clothing and join us for this premier social event.”
The evening will feature the story of a young, local survivor who is one of the faces of heart. Guests are invited to join the American Heart Association for a champagne reception followed by a night of fine dining, live and silent auction and dancing all night long to live entertainment provided by Rodney the Band. Proceeds from the special appeal will benefit children with heart disease and help educate children and families about living healthier lifestyles.
Tickets are $150 per person or $250 per person for a patron ticket that includes recognition in the program booklet. The 2014 Heart Ball is working to raise more than $320,000. Proceeds support the association’s research, education, and advocacy programs throughout the Miami Valley, including research at Wright State University School of Medicine, fitness programs in area schools, CPR training and public health advocacy campaigns.
